No matter who wins the election, being invited to play at any Presidential Inaguraiton is an honor. This one-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of history should never be refused. That’s why the historically black Talladega College in Alabama is sending their Marching Tornadoes to perform at President elect Donald J. Trump’s inaugural parade.
Liberals are furious that Alabama’s oldest historically black college have agreed to perform. But the school is standing by their decision, even if some of their students oppose the decision. They should be proud of their involvement:
Organizers of Donald Trump’s inaugural parade say the marching band of Alabama’s oldest private, historically black liberal arts college has accepted an invitation to perform – but not everyone is happy about it.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Friday that the Talladega College Marching Tornadoes was among 40 groups, including high school bands and military organizations, scheduled to perform in the parade.
The move has lit up Talladega College’s social media sites with a sharp debate about the band’s decision to participate.
The move comes as historically black schools like Howard University, which marched in President Barack Obama’s first inaugural parade, said they didn’t apply to march at Trump’s inauguration.
The band released a positive statement on their Facebook page informing the public they were chosen for the parade, which incurred a hefty response.
Many have argued that it is an honor to be chosen for an inaugural parade and is a good opportunity to promote the college and its band, though many believe it offensive.
Liberals need to get over this. They want to paint Trump as a racist, while labeling the mere decision to attend as a question of morality. This is a shameful effort to handicap Trump’s administration from day 1, hoping that Trump will be so damaged politically that he can’t enact his bold, conservative agenda.
As Trump explained, blacks have suffered greatly in Democrat-run urban cities:
“Look how much African-American communities has suffered under Democratic control. To those I say the following; what do you have to lose by trying something new, like Trump. What do you have to leave? I say it again, what do you have to lose? Look, what do you have to lose. You’re living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, fifty-eight percent of your youth is unemployed. What the hell do you have to lose? So you have nothing to lose. One thing we know for sure, is that if you keep voting for the same people, you will keep getting the same… exactly the same result.” — Donald Trump
