After months of speculation and in-fighting, the bill to repeal and replace Obamacare has finally been revealed!
Speaker Paul Ryan made the big announcement!
The bill doesn’t entirely get rid of Obamacare but does repeal some of the worst parts of it and replaces Obamacare subsidies with tax credits.
Liberals are already claiming that this will lower the rate of insured Americans. But it is easy to point out that it is a meaningless stat:
More via CNN:
House Republicans introduced their bill to repeal Obamacare’s individual mandate that also aims to maintain coverage for people with pre-existing conditions and allow children to stay on their parents’ plans until the age of 26.
The measure would restructure the country’s Medicaid program so that states receive a set amount of money from the federal government every year and offer individuals refundable tax credits to purchase health insurance
The bill would also strip federal funding from abortion provider Planned Parenthood and makes it more difficult for federal funds to be used towards the procedure.
This bill is far from perfect. Many conservatives are concerned about the tax credits being another entitlement program. There are also concerns that the expensive state Medicaid expansion will not be fully repealed.
This is most likely not the final version of the bill. There will be several amendments and revisions before it is sent to President Trump to sign.
